This research project combines models and insights from two fields of Economics to study the rationale for a small tax on transactions in financial markets. The field of Financial Market Microstructure provides models of financial markets, incorporating realistic imperfections in the functionality of these markets.
Outstanding candidates with a strong background in Economics or Mathematics-Economics are preferred. The ideal candidate has prior knowledge of the economics of taxation and /or financial markets, in particular the microstructure of markets. Higher skills in theoretical microeconomic modelling are an advantage.
Applicants must do**ent their successful masters studies by a high grade point average. Candidates must have good interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent English writing skills are a requirement.
Formal requirements: The position is available for a 3-year period for applicants holding a relevant master’s degree.
