It is a long process for the evolution from ancient Chinese Xifu to western wedding dress. In ancient China, the whole wedding is full of etiquette and elegant, that is why even we rare see this kind of wedding method, most of the Chinese still love this kind of wedding ceremony. Now, I will introduce the evolution from Chinese Xifu to western wedding dress to you.

First, let’s share a story of Nvwa and Fuxi, is about how marriage begins and human life.

As the saying goes, the earliest wedding is start from the marital relations between Fuxi and Nuwa. There have a famous flood myth, in ancient times, inundation in anywhere, the inundation nearly kill all the people and animals and just left Fuxi and Nuwa alive. The God Venus asked them to marry each other and procreate the descendant. But in Fuxi and Nuwa’s opinion, they are sister and brother, it is wrong for them to marry, so they disapprobation. But if they don’t marry each other, the human being is facing extinction. So they say they will agree to marry if the broken bamboo can connect again. But finally the bamboo connected but it has many bamboo joints, so they still don’t agree to the marriage. Then Nvwa came out with another idea: if Fuxi can catch up her, they will agree the marriage. But from beginning to the end, Fuxi couldn’t catch up Nvwa, so a turtle gave an idea to Fuxi, teach Fuxi catch up with Nvwa from the opposite direction. Finally, Nvwa was caught up by Fuxi without protection. Now, Nvwa didn’t have any excise to against this marriage, the finally got married and then human being start to successful procreation.

At that time, ancient China only has two human, Nvwa and Fuxi. At their wedding day, they don’t have any friends to invite, have no wedding dress to wear, what they own is some animal, god and sky and earth. So the god, animal, sky and the earth is the witness of their wedding, cloth that make of leaf is Nvwa’s wedding dress and Fuxi’s suit. With all of this simple procedure, they finish their wedding.

We can’t say the love between them is true love, we can’t say they have a pure marriage, because they have burdened with the human life, the hope of the future. Because of them, thanks to them, millions of human being is born, and the earth has a new species called human. Millions of human force to alive, they learn knowledge, learn to communicate with each other, learn to know the outside world, learn to pass the knowledge from generation to generation.
