A towel …
is a towel…
is a towel…
unless it’s a goodlinens towel!
Welcome To goodlinens
From their manufacture to the way they invite reuse, we
happily exhausted ourselves designing top quality towels that tread lightly on
the planet.
goodlinens
is committed to delivering practical luxury. Our 100% linen towels will
enhance your daily rituals. They feel luxurious. Absorbent,
wonderfully textured and lightly exfoliating, they improve with use. Our towels
are well-behaved, air-drying quickly, maximizing storage space, soiling less
readily and spending less time in the dryer than cotton terry.
Linen has become a generic term for nearly anything that’s found in a linen
closet, from cotton sheets and towels, to polyester tablecloths. Real linen,
however, is woven from the cellulose fibers found inside the stalk of the flax
plant. Once the fibers are separated from the woody stalk, they are spun
into yarns and then woven into fabric. Each of these steps is labor
intensive, but produces a fabric that is time tested (for 35,000 years, by some
accounts!), durable and beautiful.
goodlinens towels are woven and
hemmed in Lithuania, a country long known for its high-quality linen
production. We’re often asked why our towels are not USA made. The
simple answer: US commercial production of linen from the flax plant
ended in the 1800’s, when the invention of the cotton gin created an
inexpensive alternative to linen. Weaving and hemming in the same
European factory makes the greenest sense to us.
Linen dries quickly, avoiding the bacteria build-up that can cause
smelliness. Hang the towel after using, and it will stay fresh for use
after use. Toss it in the wash when it’s time to do laundry, and it
washes and dries alongside the rest of the clothes – no need for extra quarters
for the dryer.
The towel retains its looks, too. Inherently dirt-resistant linen
yarns in their naturally occurring colors won’t show dirt like other towels.
Why Use A goodlinens Towel?
100% Linen
Derived
from the inner layers of the stem of the flax plant, linen fibers are long and
durable, stronger wet than dry, and stronger than cotton.
Fast Drying
If you
like the idea of a towel that stays fresh and ready for reuse, highly
air-permeable 100% linen is for you. Air-dries or machine-dries far more
quickly than cotton terry.
Space Saving
Prepare to
have more space in your linen closet. Our 100% linen towels, though highly
textured, consume far less storage space, as well as washer and dryer space,
than traditional terry towels.
Exfoliating
Imagine
using a towel that provides a delightfully exfoliating experience for your
whole body. goodlinens towels do that.
Unbleached / Undyed
At least
90% of the yarns that make up our towels are unbleached and undyed. The other
10% of yarns that create our stripes? Whenever possible, we use reactive dyes
that don’t require pre-bleaching.
Absorbent
Linen is
highly absorbent, quickly wicking moisture away from the body.
Anti-Bacterial
Besides
being inherently bacteria-resistant, linen yarns dry quickly, reducing the
likelihood of having foul-smelling towels.
Better With Age
Our 100% linen
towels become friendlier with use, softening and taking on character. We think
you’ll grow attached to them.
