The Death of a Blogger, and How to Stop It
Are you committing blogger suicide? No, not the way you might be thinking, but by not doing everything you can do to utilize your blog. Almost all blogs are measured by two things, and each is very distinct and different. The first measure is by how many readers a blog has. The second measure is by profit. If you are not building a relationship with your readers, it won’t make a difference how many are coming to your site, they will not stay, and if they don't stay, you don't make any money. These will be relationships that you can count on (like money in the bank). If you want to build your influence and your financial status, you have to nurture your list of readers by giving them good content and do it in an unobtrusive and ethical way. Remember, relationships and life are gifts; respect them.
So What’s the Secret of a Good Blogger?
So what’s the secret of a good blogger? I’d tell you but then I’d have to kill you. Hey, wait a minute, that’s what we’re trying to stop. OK, I’m just kidding. So here is the big secret. Shhhh…. There is no secret. Pretty cool, huh? Successful bloggers are using the same things available to every blogger out there, and you probably see them being used every day right under your nose. That’s the big secret; it’s that the best kept secrets are usually right there in plain sight. Sometimes the best hiding place is right there under your nose. Are you still confused and ready to jump? Well step back from the ledge and take a deep breath, and be prepared to re-open your mind.
So What is the Difference Between Your Blog and a Good Blog?
There is one difference in how your blog and how someone else’s gets results and that is your list. Your email list, of the lack there-of, is what will make all the difference in the world. If you don’t have a way to build an email list that you can build a relationship with, you are just taking one step closer to the edge of the cliff. So before your eyes start to glaze over at the mention of an “email list”, you need to snap out of it and understand how this applies to your blog. Don’t let your old ideas allow you to miss out on a very powerful way of increasing your sphere of influence.
Driving Readers to Your Blog Post
If you’re not driving readers to your blog post, you are not following good blogger rules. One fact that you will find out is that there are going to be slow periods, even for the good blogger. But if you are savvy enough and have been putting out good content, you can always send an email to your list of readers and send them to an old post that might pertain to what is going on, such as an important happening that you had talked about long before it happened. Or you can say “hey, I just posted a great article on Joe Schmuck and how he turned out to be a spy”. You get the drift here, and if you are not building an email list, you are losing out on this great opportunity to keep your followers up to date and nurtured. Or you can give them a heads up for a new product launch or super good deal on product sales.
Let’s Kick Your Blog in Gear
