OMG, the dentists of the world would probably shoot me if they read this, because everyone knows that sugar is bad for you, RIGHT?? Well, that is only partially true, refined sugar IS bad for you and is harmful to your health. But the one thing that most of don’t hear is that there are simple, all-natural sugars that have been proven to have many benefits to promoting good health. They also protect us against things like tooth decay, bladder infections, asthma, sinusitis, and many other health related problems.
Polysaccharides to the Rescue
A lot of people, like my sister-in-law, live by the no sugar rule, but your body actually needs sugar to help transmit information to the immune system cells that defend us against infection. If used in combination, these simple sugars combine in long chains to with uronic acid to form polysaccharides and cause the immune cells to become more vigilant and active, which is what fights against bacteria and other germs. Echinacea, aloe vera, and many types of mushrooms are all very rich sources of polysaccharides.
Bladder Infections
Did you know E. coli bacteria is the cause of 90 percent of all bladder infections? They type referred to here is the normal E. coli bacteria that inhabits everyone’s body, not the deadly mutant type of E. coli (O157:H7 bacteria) that contaminates food. The problem here is that most doctors will throw a prescription for antibiotics at you, like they do for a lot of ailments, and thus add to the growing problems that are creeping into the world with all of these mutant super bugs that are killing people on a daily basis. Don’t rely on antibiotics, because there is a much simpler and safer way to rid yourself of this little demon. SSKI is a very effective way to treat bladder infections and urinary problems. But another safe natural option to consider is a simple sugar called D-mannose.
D-mannose has an ability that is very neat, and that is it causes the E. coli bacteria to detach from the walls of the bladder and be flushed away, without harming the friendly bacteria that is necessary for good health. The E. coli aren’t killed, they are simply flushed away and you are cleaned from the inside out, and the presto, the infection is gone. I have heard many people say to drink cranberry juice to get rid of bladder infections, which is good, but did you know that pineapple juice has the same properties? These two power houses have more D-mannose than any other food; however, the amounts they contain are too low to be effective against serious infection. D-mannose can be found in health food stores, and for adults, ½ to 1 teaspoonful dissolved in water and taken every 2 to 3 hours will eliminate even the most stubborn bladder infection that is caused by E. coli, and it tastes very good. Even though it is actually classified as a sugar, it is very safe, even for diabetics. Very little actually gets metabolized and the small amounts that aren’t flushed by the body are so small that they do not affect the blood sugar levels.
Knock Out Sinus Infection and Allergies
Who the heck would ever think of fighting a sinus infection with sugar? Or that it could have an effect on your allergies? But that is what I am going to do right now. There is one simple, easy to use, and great tasting alternative to medications and steroids and antibiotics that the doctors throw at you that you may have never thought of. This simple sugar is xylitol, which is all-natural, and actually looks and tasted like table sugar. When sinus infections hits, or why wait for one to hit, a solution of 5% xylitol sprayed into the sinus cavity, blocks the ability of the bacteria to stick to the tissue walls of the sinus and prevents it from infecting you without actually killing it. A recent study revealed that a 93% reduction of ear and sinus infections occurred in the patients that used this solution. It not only appeared to “unstick” the bacteria, but stimulated the body to drain the back of the nose, which is where the bacteria usually live. This stimulation also removes other pollutants that can trigger allergies, and these allergens can also be the cause of asthma attacks. There is a unique nasal spray that is available that is made from xylitol that can be found in almost all health food stores that is called Xlear (pronounced Klear), and comes in the metered spray or the squeeze bottles, depending on your preference. I found the squeeze bottles in a 3 pack for about 17 dollars. So let’s kick these bacteria in the ass, and get off the dangerous meds the doctors keep pushing on us. Here’s to your health and wealth, let’s bring 2012 in with a bang. See you on the beaches of the world.
